Crew Participation Terms S/Y Lola

Version 1.1 – April 2026

Read this legal document in its entirety before agreeing to it. It establishes the standards for conduct, safety, and shipboard duties required from Crew Members aboard S/Y Lola voyages.

1. Nature of the Arrangement

S/Y Lola is a privately owned sailing yacht. This is a private, non-commercial arrangement. You are not booking a charter, and no commercial service is being offered. Any financial contribution is limited to shared onboard costs (such as food, fuel, and marina fees) and does not constitute payment for passage.

 

2. Application and Selection

Submitting this form does not guarantee a place onboard. All applications are reviewed, and selection is at the sole discretion of the skipper. If selected, further details and arrangements will be agreed directly before joining the vessel.

3. Participation

If selected to join, you agree to take part in normal onboard life, including:

- Assisting with basic sailing tasks where required

- Sharing day-to-day duties such as cooking, cleaning, and general upkeep

- Acting in a cooperative and considerate manner

 

No prior sailing experience is required, but a willingness to participate is expected.

 

4. Authority of the Skipper

The skipper has full authority over:

 

- Operation and navigation of the vessel

- Safety decisions

- Onboard conduct.

 

You agree to follow all reasonable instructions, particularly in relation to safety.

 

5. Safety and Fitness

By submitting this form, you confirm that you:

 

- Are physically able to move safely around a sailing yacht

- Are able to swim

- Will take reasonable care for your own safety and that of others

 

You agree to disclose anything that may affect your ability to participate safely.

6. Conduct

The following standards apply onboard:

 

- No illegal drugs are permitted

- Smoking is not permitted onboard

- Alcohol must be consumed responsibly; none during passages or when safety may be affected

- Respectful and cooperative behaviour is expected at all times

 

Failure to meet these standards may result in you being asked to leave the vessel.

7. Personal Responsibility

You acknowledge that:

 

- Sailing involves inherent risks, including injury, loss, or discomfort

- You participate voluntarily and at your own risk

- You are responsible for your personal belongings

 

The skipper accepts no liability for personal injury, loss, or damage except where required by law.

8. Travel and Insurance

You are responsible for:

 

- Your own travel to and from the vessel

- Ensuring you have appropriate travel and medical insurance if desired

- Holding valid travel documentation (passport, visas, etc.)

9. Flexibility of Plans

You understand that:

- Sailing plans may change due to weather, technical, or other factors

- Routes, timings, and destinations are not guaranteed

10. Ending Participation

If selected, the skipper may end your participation at any time if:

 

- Safety is compromised

- Instructions are not followed

- Behaviour is unsuitable

 

You may be required to leave the vessel at the next reasonable opportunity.

11. Agreement

By submitting this form, you confirm that:

 

- You have read and understood these terms

- You agree to them in full

- You understand the nature of this private sailing arrangement

- You understand that submitting this form is an application only and does not guarantee a place onboard

 

These terms form an agreement between you and the skipper of S/Y Lola in relation to your application and any subsequent participation.
